uduforu in April 2020 vs. April 2021

FYI:
April is National Poetry Month!
April 17 is National Haiku Day!
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Early in 2020, I was set on taking pictures to create coloring pages I would publish in a coloring book. I thought the project would be low maintenance since I planned to convert the photos using software. The images ultimately were too pixilated, which led me to discover vector art. After learning more about vector art and creating coloring pages, I shelved the project.

Determined to create something, I rediscovered my poems of Down Town Haiku and decided to make videos. I do not expect the haiku videos will draw fans, but I must practice the skills needed to put the project together. The videos turned out OK, so I published them on YouTube. After the Down Town Haiku project, I created “You do Haiku: a Poetry Tutorial and Workbook” as a follow-up.

COVID-19 had been steadily advancing all the while, and pandemic reality put everything on hold. In 2021 the need to improve my logo, website, social media presence and marketing came into focus. Twitter and Instagram have joined forces with YouTube, Facebook, and Amazon Advertising to frustrate me. I have made many improvements and continue to grind at the details.

I am writing stuff, too! The Haiku by Martin E. Dodge playlist is growing on YouTube. I submitted a short story to a Writer’s Digest contest and have another short story for The Virginia Quarterly Review in July. A more ambitious writing project is also underway. I have not decided how to share snippets of my writing yet, though.

More news and creations are on the way!

Best Wishes,

Martin E. Dodge
